FAQS
-
Virtuous Nursing Care provides adolescent care for patients ages 16 and older, depending on the individual clinical situation and whether telehealth-based care is an appropriate fit.
Appropriateness of care is determined based on developmental considerations, presenting concerns, and overall clinical needs. If a patient’s needs would be better supported through a different specialty service or level of care, appropriate referral recommendations may be provided.
-
Parent or caregiver involvement is often an important part of adolescent care, particularly for younger adolescents, ADHD-related concerns, medication management, and treatment planning.
The level of parent involvement may vary depending on the adolescent’s age, developmental stage, presenting concerns, and clinical appropriateness, while also respecting age-appropriate privacy and therapeutic rapport.
Whenever possible, care is approached collaboratively to support both the adolescent and their family.
-
Medication recommendations are made on an individualized basis following clinical evaluation and only when clinically appropriate.
If medication is considered, treatment planning includes thoughtful discussion of potential benefits, risks, monitoring needs, and follow-up recommendations.
An evaluation does not guarantee medication will be recommended or prescribed, and some clinical situations may require additional assessment, coordination, or referral.

Telehealth can be a convenient and effective option for many adolescents, particularly for concerns related to emotional wellness, ADHD-related symptoms, medication follow-up, and supportive care.
That said, telehealth may not be appropriate for every adolescent or clinical situation. Factors such as symptom severity, developmental needs, privacy, safety concerns, or the need for in-person evaluation may affect whether telehealth is the best fit.
Patients must be physically located in Minnesota at the time of their appointment, and a private, appropriate environment should be available to support a meaningful visit.
